FAQ – Rent a Bartender!

B_MAG9808Do you provide the alcohol too, or can I just rent a bartender?
Olive
provides professional bartending services only. Check out our sister company, Twist Cocktail Catering Co. for full cocktail, beer and wine catering!

I’m planning my own reception party and will be buying the wedding alcohol myself … but I’m not sure what to buy. Help?!
That’s what our ‘Custom Drink Menu and Shopping List’ service is for!

Based on your vision, guest count and personal taste, we will create a custom-tailored drink menu for your party, and include a handy wedding alcohol shopping list that won’t allow you to forget a thing. Our fee for that is $50/hour, and most menus can be created in two hours.

More info about our other services is here.

Do you provide Liquor Liability Insurance for my event?
Our company and staff are fully insured. However, when you provide the alcohol, you will need to secure Liquor Liability Insurance for your event. We are happy to assist.

My event will have minors in attendance. What do you do to guarantee they are not served alcohol?
The legal drinking age in Oregon is 21 years old. To ensure that we never serve a minor, Olive Bartending Service’s policy is to ask for identification from anyone appearing under the age of 30.

Are your bartenders certified or licensed?
Yes. Oregon and Washington law require that anyone serving, mixing or selling alcohol carry a server’s permit. All of Olive‘s staff members have completed a server’s education class and have obtained an OLCC service permit.

How many bartenders will I need for my party?
In order to ensure high-quality service and maintain safety, we always recommend at least one bartender for every 70 guests for a full bar event. If the selection is limited to beer and wine, we recommend one bartender for every 90 guests. See more about our services here.

Does your staff wear uniform?
Yes. Our standard professional dress includes black pants, black shoes and a black shirt with an ‘Olive’ name tag and a black apron – simple, clean, classy and functional.

What about gratuity?
It is standard industry practice for a tip jar to be placed on the bar.  Olive supports this practice because it supplements our team and the families they are supporting.  If you prefer otherwise, please let us know and we will gladly comply.  Host gratuity is always at the client’s discretion.

Where are your bartending services available?
We serve Central Oregon, the Columbia Gorge and Southern Washington.

For Central Oregon, we cities we serve are:  Bend, Redmond, Sisters, Camp Sherman, Black Butte Ranch, La Pine, Sunriver, Madras, Maupin, Culver, Prineville, Terrebonne and Powell Butte.

In the Columbia Gorge, we deliver service in Hood River, The Dalles, Mt. Hood, Government Camp, Parkdale, Dufur,  Odell, Cascade Locks, Carson and Corbett.

And since our business has been growing, we’re recently added the following Southern Washington cities: Stevenson, White Salmon, Carson, Happy Valley, Underwood, Husum, Home Valley and Goldendale.

We’ve also been known to go to Portland or Salem. If you’ve got a special event, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

How much ice should I buy?
If you want to provide your own ice, we recommend 1 pound of ice per person for beer and wine event, or 1 ½  pounds per person for cocktail service. If it’s a very hot day, you may consider doubling or even tripling that amount.

We’ll be happy though to relieve you of that hassle – use Olive‘s ice service instead! We can provide a 20 lb bag for $6.

Which other event vendors should we consider?
Great question.  We have a lot of wonderful partners that we love to work with.  Check out our preferred partner page for more info.
